The story behind the Feyter horse begins with Marinus de Feijter, the founder of Feyter Group. He received a commission from Guido Metsers, the brother of famous Dutch actor Hugo Metsers. Guido wanted to have a unique art project realized at Feyter Industrial Services. As payment, Guido offered to create a life-size horse statue, based on a smaller one that always stood on Marinus’ desk.
Guido started his project with a plaster model, which he then had covered with steel plates. The result was an impressive work of art that soon drew much admiration. The Feyter horse has stood in various places over the years and was even almost sold once. Fortunately, it always returned to us.
During the renovation of our location in Terneuzen on Haarmanweg, it was decided that it was time to give the statue a permanent place. It was given a place of honor in front of our building, where it represents a piece of our history.
